DID YOU THINK…
Your degree was a golden ticket to success?
That degree would make getting a job easy?
You would work in your major?
You would move into your own apartment after graduation?
You would be happy in this chapter?
If you answered yes, to any of the questions, you’re not alone because I thought the same. But college sometimes shelters us from the realities of the many challenges that come after graduating. For instance, I thought, I have a bachelor's degree. I’ll apply to tons of entry-level jobs in my major and, I should at least get one. Wrong. Why do entry-level jobs have requirements of at least three years working in that field? How sway? How will I have three plus years if I just got the degree? The one-month idea of finding a job can turn into months of unemployment and, the dreams of working in your major begin to fade. It gets to a point where you’re looking for a job anywhere to survive. By the time you do find a job (that you probably hate), here comes Sallie Mae calling looking for money you don't have. Six months to start paying a loan back for something I have yet to benefit from isn’t realistic to everyone! I’m proud to be a part of forty-plus million people with student debt.
“HIP HIP HOORAY HIP HIP I DON’T GOT IT”.
Unfortunately, the job search isn’t the only headache imagine having to move back home. It’s the most difficult adjustment moving back into a home you haven’t lived full-time in four years and probably outgrown. I could go on and on but, I might cry.
